Sergio Demian Lerner is a prominent computer security and cryptocurrency researcher known for his extensive work in the blockchain and security domains. He co-founded Rootstock Labs in 2015, a company that develops the Rootstock Smart Contract platform aimed at integrating smart contract functionalities into the ecosystem. [1] [2]

Education

Sergio Demian Lerner studied computer science at ORT Argentina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree between 1988 and 1994. In 1994, he completed a specialization in Parallel Computing at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He subsequently attended the University of Buenos Aires, obtaining a master's degree in Computer Science from 1995 to 2000. [3]

Career

Sergio Demian Lerner is a computer scientist, cryptographer, and researcher whose career has focused on information security, distributed systems, and technologies. He began his professional work in the 1990s, leading information security projects for Argentina's tax authority and later serving as an assistant lecturer in cryptography at the University of Buenos Aires.

Between 1998 and 2015, Lerner held technical and leadership positions in software development and cybersecurity, including roles at ATI Medical, ATI – Advanced Medical Technologies, and Certimix. He also worked as a security consultant and researcher for organizations such as Core Security Technologies, conducting work related to cryptography and information security.

Following the emergence of technology, Lerner became involved in research and development. He led the NimbleCoin project (2014–2015), served as a security auditor for the Foundation, and acted as Chief Scientist at Doosra Inc. In 2015, he co-founded Labs, where he led the design of the platform, a sidechain intended to support compatible with applications.

Since 2014, Lerner has served as a technical advisor to CoinFabrik and worked as a security auditor for Coinspect, reviewing -related software, protocols, and infrastructure. He also advised WayniLoans on cybersecurity and risk management strategies between 2015 and 2023. From 2020 to 2023, he served as Chief Scientist at RootstockLabs (formerly associated with IOV Labs), overseeing research into blockchain scalability, privacy, decentralization, and security. Since 2023, he has continued as a Science Specialist at RootstockLabs while also co-founding FairGate, a technology venture launched in 2023. [1] [2] [3] [4]
